Not the highly polished alienation of 'Floodland' or the simmering egos of 'First and Last and Always', Vision Thing remains the best likeness that Eldritch's approach to a purely rock and roll album could achieve. It's the sort of record so loaded with in jokes and multiple entendres that even Alan Moore would be reticent to dissect it. Vision Thing is the third and most recent studio album by English gothic rock band the Sisters of Mercy. It was released on 22 October 1990 through Merciful Release and East West Records, with Elektra Records handling the US release. Soon after the release of the band's previous album, Floodland, Eldritch approached guitarist John Perry to join them on writing a new album. After Perry turned down the offer to become a full-time member, the band began to search for a new guitarist through their record. Songs in album The Sisters of Mercy - Vision Thing 1990. Vision Thing is the third and, to date, final studio album by British gothic rock band The Sisters of Mercy, released in November 1990 on the bands own label Merciful Release. The album was designed by songwriter and singer Andrew Eldritch as an attack on the policies of the George H. Bush administration the title comes from an oft-cited quote by Bush. It appears the majority of tracks on the album are based on the original demos, Eldritch being unhappy with the mixed versions and going back to basics. Vision Thing Q&A. Vision Thing is completely different from the sound of First and Last and Always, it is instantly noticed by the opening and title track Vision Thing. The song is hard rock that is mixed in with some glam rock. Although the previous four songs have something that reminds one of the previous sound of The Sisters of Mercy, Detonation Boulevard is just a boring cliché hard rock song that has been heard and written several times before, the lyrics seem decent compared to that of More Although it wouldn't take much, the sound though completely ruins any hints of
