Gimme Back My Bullets 00:00 Written by Gary Rossington and Ronnie was a time when Lynyrd Skynyrds music was tough. It had drive and force it was impossible to ignore. But last years Al Kooper-produced Nuthin Fancy revealed the bands soft underbelly and Gimme Back My Bullets, produced by Tom Dowd, is an extension of its predecessor. It starts strong but fails to deliver. The title track is powerful - relentless, a little dangerous - with lead guitar wailing urgently behind one of the angriest Ronnie Van Zant vocals yet recorded. Lynyrd Skynyrd begins to show signs of wear on their fourth album, Gimme Back My Bullets. The band had switched producers, hiring Tom Dowd, the producer who served Atlantic's roster so well during the label's heyday. Unfortunately, he wasn't perfectly suited for Skynyrd, at least at this point in their history. Lynyrd Skynyrd. Рок-музика 1976. 3: to Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington in a 1992 Goldmine interview, this song is about the bullets Billboard charts use to signify a song is moving quickly up the chart. If a song is 12 with a bullet, it is at 12 but will probably go higher next week. This song was about regaining dominance on the music charts, but Gimme Back My Bullets was the weakest selling album of Skynyrd's career to that point. It was their fourth release, and the first produced by the famous Atlantic Records engineer Tom Dowd, who was allowed to produce two bands outside of Atlantic every year Skynyrd was on MCA. This was never released as a single. Lynyrd Skynyrd released 'Gimme Back My Bullets' in February 1976. Lynyrd Skynyrd found a formula for mainstream success with their first three albums - and then they mixed things up for their fourth, 1976's Gimme Back My Bullets. The months that followed the recording of the group's third LP, 1975's Nuthin' Fancy , found the members of Skynyrd at a personal as well as artistic crossroads. 2, 1976, when the new album - named Gimme Back My Bullets , after the lead-off track and second single - arrived in stores
