Info

Jamie Lidell is an album by Jamie Lidell released in 2013 and produced by Lidell and Justin Stanley in Lidell's Nashville, Tennessee studio. The lead single, What a Shame, was released on YouTube on Nov 16, 2012. Lidell cited Janet Jackson as the inspiration for the album, saying I got into Rhythm Nation and Control and thought 'these are amazing songs, why don't they make them like this anymore I want to make them like that' So that's what kicked it off for me. Lidell added, its the sound of. Jim is a studio album by Jamie Lidell. It was released through Warp on 28 April 2008. It peaked at number 8 on the UK Independent Albums Chart, as well as number 183 on the Billboard 200 chart, number 7 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, and number 23 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart. All tracks are written by Jamie Lidell and Dominic 'Mocky' Salole, except where noted. Jamie Lidell has apparently been reducing not only his equipment list to its basics, but his production style, so it includes a minimum of things that you need to program much less plug in. Of course, that jives with his gradual blossoming as an unhinged soul singer on 2005's Multiply, which has only blossomed further for 2008's Jim, a neo-soul record that sounds like it was recorded live, in the kind of studio that each of the album's seven to eight musicians actually could fit into. The former laptop artist re-invented himself as a 21st century soulman, reconfiguring Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles into a futuristic runway show bursting with positive energy and musical cleverness. The album was showered with praise but it was unable to find the mainstream audience it so obviously coveted, and so clearly deserved. Lidell has upped the ante with Jim, making his sophomore soul masterpiece even more palatable to Top 40 fans. TWEET HEAT: SOUNDCLOUD: Lidell - Enough's Enough unplugged in the street. No Englishman has laid down more blue-eyed soul than Jamie Lidell since Van Morrison moondanced. On his third solo outing, Jim, the former techno-funkster as one half of Super Collider channels the '60s-era spirits of Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and James Brown, completely shedding any electronic remnants. Twinkling piano, handclaps and even tweeting birds provide a lush knoll for Lidell's silky gospel on Another Day, while the funky glide of retro-soul numbers Out of My System an
