With his first album "One Love" Boris Blenn created a moody and hypnotic Goa trance classic. Even though the production methods were simple, this work put one in a trance immediately. "Stardiver" and "Divine Design" carried on this style of melodic but deep trance. Here, perhaps because he was solo and not collaborating, Blenn's harmonic skills result in a rather light and frothy album. Stunning production is on display in "Unify", but it is just a little bit too light to be inspiring. Blenn even slips in what sounds suspiciously like a melody from Abba's "Dum Dum Diddle" into "Lumiere". Abba in psytrance?? Whether this is Intentional or not I don't know. The overall sunny tone matches the naff cover. To my ears this album would be enjoyable on a sunny beach afternoon, but that magic hypnosis that characterised his earlier collaborations is not on offer here. Nevertheless, I'm very happy that this album is in my collection, and it remains noteworthy as one of the true Goa releases in the noughties. Boris Blenn has hardly put a foot wrong in his many, many releases, which is a kind of miracle really. ~*~
