The Seduction Of Claude Debussy - Art Of Noise. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. The Seduction of Claude Debussy is a 1999 concept album by Art of Noise, featuring a line-up of Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley, Paul Morley, and Lol Creme. Also appearing on the album are John Hurt, soprano Sally Bradshaw, Rakim, and Donna Lewis. The group blended the music of French impressionist composer Claude Debussy with drum and bass, opera, hip hop, jazz, and narration, and described the album as the soundtrack to a film that wasn't made about the life of Claude Debussy. More than ten years after the Art of Noise left Trevor Horn's ZTT label to record on their own, original members Anne Dudley and Paul Morley reunited with Horn plus 10cc's Lol Creme to record another LP, organized around the work of French modernist composer Claude Debussy. Wasn't crazy about this direction for them. I must prefer "In Visible Silence"--in fact, I think that was their creative high-point.

Agree. After recently getting into vinyl, I'm disappointed that this is not on vinyl.

This album is a real gem, seldom does one come across such a perfect piece of art. The songwriting is achingly beautiful and the production is top-notch, it hasn’t dated one bit. Recurrent themes gently surface throughout the disc, and it's all held together by John Hurt's atmospheric narration, which adds a wonderful cinematic feel to it all. As I recall now 1999 was a very boring year in musical terms, all filter-house and washed out trip-hop grooves. This release swam against the tide in all departments offering something very unique and beautiful, a true hidden treasure for those who know how to dig.

good to see the Art of Noise come back out of their self imposed woodwork and schedules. Great to see them turning our attention towards Debussy and his work. But I just don't find much enjoyable about this record. It's dated itself really well and doesn't stand up to much listening anymore save those one or two songs that had the immediate impact upon the first listen. The rest of it just gets skipped through.
